Child Care Subsidy (from 2 July 2018)

Families must provide GBOOSH with a CRN for a parent and child/children’s CRN if you wish to claim Child Care Subsidy. Families must have a registered My Gov Account in order to approve/confirm details from Centrelink which relate to a child's attendance, booking changes or enrolment. If you do not approve these details, Centrelink will not pay the subsidies & full fees will be charged to your account. The centre is unable to complete any of the confirmation of these details on a parents behalf.

Bookings, Cancellations & Absences

Parents wishing to use the Centre must ask if there are places available. ALL children using the Centre must be enrolled. Casual users must email or ring the Centre to check that places are available, with suggested 24 hours notice to avoid disappointment. 48 hours notice must be provided for cancellation of Casual Bookings to avoid charges.

Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is payable on 42 absences per financial year, this includes Public Holidays, family holidays & sick days. If your child's permanent booking falls during term time on a public holiday this day is charged as an Absent day.  Once a child has exceeded 42 absent days, full fees will be payable on any further absences for the remainder of the year.

A Waiting List for future enrolments is kept at the Centre. Siblings are given priority.

Parent Involvement

The Centre is a non-profit organisation, incorporated and run by an elected volunteer Management Committee of concerned, working parents and a paid, experienced staff . Non-Attending Care Centre Children

Parents must notify the Centre if children are sick or will not be attending for any other reason, both morning and afternoon sessions. If children do not attend a booked session, are unable to be located & parents can not be contacted, the assistance of emergency services (Police) must be engaged. This proceedure is a requirement of the Centre's Poilicies & National Regulations.

A child may not return to the Centre until cleared to attend school.

The Centre has an official Health & Safety Policy. Please ensure that you are aware of the requirements, relevant forms must be completed by a Parent/Guardian before medication can be administered to children.

Injury / Illness

Should a child be injured or become ill at the Centre, every attempt will be made to contact the parent / guardian for further directions. However, the Coordinator may need to seek medical advice in an emergency and consent by the parent / guardian for this will be requested on the Enrolment Form.

Special Requirements

If you have special requirements in regard to the care of your child while at the Centre, please direct such requests to the Coordinator.

The Centre staff will try to have children protect their clothing during activities whenever possible. If parents are worried, please have children bring along old clothing to change into. Please make sure all clothing is labelled with child’s name. Staff are not responsible for lost clothing or toys children bring to the Centre. Please discourage your children from bringing ‘precious’ items to the Centre.

A wide variety of activities are planned at the Centre each week. A weekly program is displayed at the centre, children & families are encouraged to participate in/contribute to the program.

Mobile Phones, Tablets & other Electronic Devices

While we respect the right of parents / carers to allow children to bring mobile phones to school or vacation care, we must insist that these are left in children’s bags and not used at the centre. We have a land line telephone which children can use should they need to. Inappropriate use of mobile phones including photographing others without their permission is unacceptable and can have serious consequences.

The Centre encourages to children to keep all electronic devices safely in their bags or these can be handed to an Educator for safe keeping in the GBOOSH Office. The Centre has programmed timeslots where children may use their electronic devices under supervision. The centre does not currently have wi fi access available to children so all devices should be set to 'flight mode'.

Donations of items such as fabric offcuts, wool, cardboard, boxes etc. are very much appreciated.
